India’s teen prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi has rewritten the record books by slamming what is believed to be the fastest-ever century in Youth ODIs, reaching his ton in just 52 balls during the fourth Youth ODI against England U-19 on Saturday.
The 14-year-old powerhouse from Bihar smashed a blistering 143 off 78 balls, peppering the Worcester ground with 13 boundaries and 10 sixes, setting the tone for a massive Indian total in the 50-over clash. At the time of his dismissal, India were cruising at 290/4 in just 40 overs.
Record-breaking Partnership:
After early loss of captain Ayush Mhatre (5), Suryavanshi and fellow batter Vihaan Malhotra stitched a game-defining 219-run stand for the second wicket. Malhotra remained unbeaten on 100, showcasing stability while Suryavanshi went on the offensive.
Vaibhav fell to Ben Mayes, but his fiery knock had already placed India firmly in control. However, following his dismissal, India faced a brief hiccup as Rahul Kumar and Harvansh Singh fell cheaply to Sebastian Morgan, for a 7-ball duck and golden duck respectively.
From IPL Phenom to U-19 Star:
Suryavanshi first caught national attention during IPL 2025, debuting with a first-ball six and later smashing 252 runs at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 206.55. His 101 off 35 balls against Gujarat Titans became the second-fastest century in IPL history, instantly propelling him into the spotlight.
Now in national colors, his U-19 scores leading up to this game were already eye-popping:
