Lord’s Thriller: England Clinch Victory in Final Session
In a low-scoring, high-pressure final innings, India was chasing 193 but crumbled to 170 all out, despite late resistance.
- Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Brydon Carse ripped through India’s top order, reducing them to 58/4 by Day 4 stumps.
- Ravindra Jadeja fought hard with a gritty 42*, and Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj showed heart, but a freak dismissal of Siraj — padding a ball that rolled onto the stumps — ended India’s hopes.
First-Innings Battle: 387 vs 387
Remarkably, both teams posted identical first-innings scores of 387:
- Joe Root led England with a classic 104, supported by Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse.
- India replied with KL Rahul’s century, a brisk 74 by Rishabh Pant, and Jadeja’s 72.
In the bowling department, Bumrah’s five-wicket haul and Washington Sundar’s 4/22 in the second innings kept India in the hunt, but it wasn’t enough in the end.
With the series score now 2-1 in England’s favour, both teams have everything to play for — not just to win the series, but also to secure vital WTC points that could determine qualification for the final in 2027.
