Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara launch: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off India’s first global battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara, from Hansalpur in Gujarat. The Made-in-India SUV will be exported to more than 100 countries, including major markets like Europe and Japan. The Prime Minister, who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat, also toured Suzuki Motor’s Hansalpur facility in Ahmedabad, where the new phase of India’s EV manufacturing was showcased.

Hybrid battery electrode production begins in Gujarat
Alongside the Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara launch, PM Modi inaugurated the local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the Hansalpur-based TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant. A joint venture of Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki, the facility will ensure that more than 80% of battery value is now manufactured domestically, reinforcing India’s green energy mission.
Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara launch Boost to Make in India and green mobility
Calling the day historic, the Prime Minister said the project will accelerate India’s journey toward ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make for the World.’ He highlighted that India’s EV and clean energy ecosystem is fast emerging as a global model, while also deepening cooperation between India and Japan.
India’s skilled workforce driving the EV revolution
PM Modi further noted that India’s democratic strength, demographic advantage, and skilled workforce create a win-win situation for global investors. He lauded Maruti Suzuki and its partners for becoming ambassadors of India’s manufacturing capabilities and boosting green innovation.
