ADB Announces $3 Million Emergency Aid for Pakistan Flood Relief

Published on

Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has pledged three million U.S. dollars in emergency financial assistance to support Pakistan’s flood relief operations. The announcement was made on Friday after heavy floods displaced thousands of families across multiple regions of the country.

ADB Aid for Pakistan Floods Aims to Address Urgent Humanitarian Needs

ADB President Masato Kanda emphasized that Pakistan is currently facing one of its worst flood disasters in recent years. He noted that the emergency grant reflects ADB’s strong commitment to providing immediate humanitarian support while also focusing on long-term recovery plans.

Pakistan Floods Leave Millions Affected

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 22 people have lost their lives in the past 24 hours due to heavy rains and flash floods. Authorities further reported that more than 1.5 million people have been directly impacted, with many displaced from their homes.

ADB Aid for Pakistan Floods to Be Disbursed from Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund

Officials confirmed that the relief package will be released under the Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund, designed to support countries during severe natural calamities. The grant is expected to provide immediate assistance in the form of food, shelter, and healthcare for displaced families.

Heavy Rains Pose Further Threats

Meteorological officials have issued fresh warnings of another spell of intense rainfall that could worsen the flood situation. Emergency response teams are on high alert as rescue and relief operations continue across the affected regions.
