PM Modi to Visit Odisha on September 27, Sixth Tour Since 2024 Elections

Published on

BHUBANESWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on September 27, marking his sixth trip to the state since the 2024 elections when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ended the long reign of the BJD. The visit is being closely monitored as a significant political and developmental moment for the state.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Saturday confirmed the one-day tour and said the Prime Minister is likely to address a massive public rally, possibly at Chhatrapur, the headquarters of Ganjam district. Modi is also expected to launch multiple projects during his visit, though the final details of his itinerary are yet to be announced.

PM Modi’s Odisha Visit Highlights Development and Purvodaya Mission

Suresh Pujari stated that the visit underscores Modi’s deep commitment to Odisha’s growth under the Purvodaya Mission, which aims to accelerate development in the eastern region of India.

“This will be the sixth visit of the Prime Minister to Odisha in just 14 months after the BJP came to power in the state. Such frequent visits show his love for Odisha and his vision for the state’s all-round development,” Pujari emphasized.

Preparations Begin for PM Modi’s Odisha Visit Public Rally

Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, who is supervising the ground-level arrangements, revealed that preparations are underway to host over three lakh people at the rally.

“We are scouting for a suitable venue in and around Berhampur. Discussions are ongoing with district party leaders to finalize the site, given the expected huge turnout,” Jena said.

Revenue Minister Pujari will personally visit Berhampur on September 15 to review arrangements and hold meetings with the district administration and BJP functionaries.

PM Modi’s Odisha Visit Linked to BJP’s ‘Seva Paksha’ Campaign

BJP sources disclosed that the Prime Minister’s Odisha visit is aligned with the party’s two-week-long ‘Seva Paksha’, a nationwide public outreach initiative running from September 17 to October 2.

The campaign coincides with PM Modi’s birthday on September 17 and concludes on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, symbolically linking leadership, service, and legacy.

Recent Odisha Visits by Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Modi had last visited Odisha on June 20, commemorating one year of the BJP-led government in the state under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. On that occasion, he addressed a massive public meeting at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, where he highlighted the government’s achievements and future roadmap.

The upcoming September 27 visit is expected to further boost BJP’s momentum in the state, while also showcasing the Centre’s focus on Odisha’s infrastructure and development initiatives.
