Its core responsibilities include search and rescue during earthquakes and landslides, flood and cyclone operations, and response to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear emergencies. The force also provides critical medical relief in disaster zones.

Nationwide Deployment and Training Network

The NDRF is strategically positioned across the country with 16 battalions and 28 Regional Response Centres. This nationwide presence ensures faster mobilization during emergencies.

Its dedicated training academy in Nagpur equips personnel with advanced skills for multi-hazard response. This continuous training underpins the force’s reputation as India’s frontline disaster management agency.
