Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to roll out the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana Odisha today, marking a major welfare initiative focused on supporting financially vulnerable families through dignified mass marriage ceremonies.
The scheme will officially be launched from Maa Tara Tarani Pitha in Ganjam district, with the Chief Minister inaugurating the programme.
Launch Event in Ganjam to Witness Mass Marriage Ceremony
The Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana will begin with a large-scale marriage event in Ganjam, where nearly 200 couples are expected to tie the knot under the government-supported ceremony.
Officials said the programme is designed to ensure respectful weddings for families who face economic hardships.
Financial Assistance of ₹60,000 Per Marriage
Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries will receive ₹60,000.
The government will also cover all marriage-related expenses, easing the burden on parents and guardians struggling to arrange weddings.
MKVY Eligibility Criteria for Couples
The scheme has clear age requirements:
- Groom must be between 21 and 35 years
- Bride must be between 18 and 35 years
- Only couples meeting these criteria will be able to participate in the programme.

The Odisha government aims to use this initiative as a strong social reform tool.
