  • The operation followed the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians
  • India described the mission as a decisive anti-terror response targeting camps in Pakistan and PoK

New Delhi: On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, India’s armed forces paid tribute to one of the country’s most decisive anti-terror operations in recent years.

The Indian Air Force and Indian Army released commemorative videos early Wednesday carrying the message: “India forgives nothing.”

The videos were shared at exactly 1:05 AM IST, matching the precise time the operation began on May 7, 2025. The footage highlighted precision strikes carried out against terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Triggered by the Pahalgam Terror Attack

The operation was launched in response to the April 22, 2025 terror attack in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, where terrorists killed 26 civilians, most of them tourists.

India blamed Pakistan-based terror groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed for the massacre, which triggered nationwide outrage.

Fifteen days later, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, a swift precision campaign that lasted roughly 22 to 23 minutes. During the mission, nine terror camps and launchpads were targeted using advanced munitions, drones, and coordinated air assets.

Indian officials maintained that the strikes were carefully calibrated and restricted only to terrorist infrastructure, avoiding Pakistani military and civilian locations.

Defence leaders later described the operation as a major demonstration of India’s military precision, strategic clarity, and technological capability.

Rajnath Singh and senior military officials stated that the mission marked a doctrinal shift in India’s response to cross-border terrorism, emphasizing proactive and calibrated action.

Symbolism Behind “Sindoor”

The operation’s name, “Sindoor,” carried strong emotional significance. The term refers to the sacred vermilion symbol associated with marital honour in Indian culture and reflected the grief of families affected by the Pahalgam attack, as well as India’s determination to protect its citizens.

In the anniversary tribute videos, the Indian Air Force reiterated the message “India forgives nothing,” while the Indian Army stated that India would continue to “track, identify and punish terrorists and their backers.”

Military officials also highlighted the use of indigenous defence systems, including precision-guided technology and AI-assisted targeting capabilities employed during the operation.

Regional Impact and Ceasefire

The strikes led to a brief military escalation between May 7 and May 10, 2025, before both sides moved toward a ceasefire.

Despite the tensions that followed, Operation Sindoor is widely regarded in India as a turning point that demonstrated tri-services coordination and reshaped regional security dynamics.

One year later, the operation continues to symbolize India’s evolving anti-terror doctrine — swift, precise, and uncompromising.

As the country honours the valour of its armed forces, the message remains clear: acts of terror will continue to face strong and decisive responses.
