Happy Janmashtami: President Droupadi Murmu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla extended greetings to people on the eve of Janmashtami 2026, highlighting the enduring relevance of Lord Shri Krishna’s teachings on truth, righteousness, duty and service.
In her message, President Murmu conveyed her greetings and best wishes to Indians in the country and abroad. She said Lord Krishna’s life and teachings have made a lasting contribution to India’s cultural and philosophical heritage.
Murmu also emphasised the continuing relevance of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, particularly its guidance on making wise decisions during difficult situations and remaining committed to moral values.

President Murmu said the teachings of Lord Shri Krishna show humanity the importance of truth, righteousness, justice, compassion and selfless service.
She said Janmashtami encourages people to strengthen harmony and remain dedicated to their responsibilities and service to society.
The President called upon people to follow the ideals associated with Lord Krishna and contribute towards building an inclusive and developed India.
Her message placed particular emphasis on carrying the values of the festival beyond the celebrations and reflecting them in everyday conduct.
Om Birla Highlights Bhagavad Gita’s Timeless Message
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also extended his greetings and best wishes to people on Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
Birla recalled the deep devotion Lord Krishna inspires among people in India and around the world. He referred to the affection associated with Krishna’s childhood stories and the names Kanha and Kanhaiya by which devotees fondly remember him.
He described the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, delivered by Krishna to Arjuna during the Mahabharata, as a timeless source of guidance on duty, ethics, justice, wisdom, courage and balance.
