Bhubaneswar/Agar Malwa: Seven members of a family from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, died in the early hours of Saturday after their car was swept away by a rain-swollen drain near Nalkheda in Madhya Pradesh’s Agar Malwa district.

The family, reportedly from the Jayadev Vihar area of Bhubaneswar, was travelling to the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda when the vehicle was caught in a strong water current while crossing a flooded stretch.

Odisha Family Killed in Nalkheda Accident

According to reports, the Seven-member family was travelling in a car when the vehicle reached a waterlogged road section near the temple.

The heavy flow of rainwater reportedly swept the car into a nearby drain.

The vehicle was subsequently submerged in the water, leaving all eight occupants trapped inside.

Three Children Among the Deceased

The deceased members reportedly included three children, two women and two men.

All eight belonged to the same family from Bhubaneswar’s Jayadev Vihar area.

The family had travelled to Madhya Pradesh as part of a visit to the Maa Baglamukhi Temple.

Rescue Teams Recover Submerged Car

Following the incident, rescue teams and local police reached the spot and began efforts to recover the vehicle.

The submerged car was eventually pulled out of the water.

However, medical officials declared all eight occupants dead.

Rain-Swollen Drain Led to Tragedy

The incident occurred after heavy rain caused water levels to rise in the area.

While crossing the flooded road section, the vehicle was reportedly caught by a powerful current and dragged into the drain.

The incident highlights the danger posed by flooded roads and rapidly flowing water during periods of heavy rainfall.

Bhubaneswar Family’s Temple Visit Ends in Tragedy

The family had travelled from Odisha to Madhya Pradesh to visit the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda.

What was intended to be a religious visit ended in tragedy after the car was swept away near the temple area.

The deaths of all Seven family members have left their relatives and the Bhubaneswar community in shock.
