Odisha Vigilance Arrests 4 More in R&B Fund Fraud Case

Four more staffers have been arrested in the alleged Rs 9.24 crore government fund embezzlement case involving the Bhubaneswar R&B Division-I office.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested four more staffers in connection with an alleged financial fraud at the office of the Superintending Engineer, R&B Division-I, Bhubaneswar.

The arrested persons have been identified as Dipak Kumar Routray and Laxman Biswal, staffers of the Superintending Engineer’s office, along with data entry operators Rajib Lochan Senapati and Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.

According to the Vigilance investigation, the four allegedly colluded with Section Officer Banalata Mohanty and Junior Assistant Bibhudutta Nayak in the alleged embezzlement of government funds amounting to Rs 9,24,10,193.

Odisha Vigilance Finds Fund Transfers to Private Accounts

During the investigation, Vigilance alleged that the four newly arrested persons were working under Banalata Mohanty and Bibhudutta Nayak and received substantial amounts from the allegedly embezzled funds in their personal bank accounts.

The agency said government funds were transferred to their private accounts in the following amounts:

  • Dipak Kumar Routray: Rs 32,47,800
  • Laxman Biswal: Rs 16,21,484
  • Rajib Lochan Senapati: Rs 28,28,817
  • Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra: Rs 35,69,098

Vigilance further stated that Senapati and Mohapatra were private data entry operators engaged by Section Officer Banalata Mohanty.

Two Officials Arrested Earlier

Section Officer Banalata Mohanty and Junior Assistant Bibhudutta Nayak had already been arrested by Odisha Vigilance in connection with the alleged financial irregularities.

With the latest arrests, six accused persons have now been arrested in the case, according to the agency.

All Six Accused to Be Produced in Court

Odisha Vigilance said all six accused persons will be forwarded to the court today.

The investigation is continuing into the alleged government fund embezzlement and the roles of the persons accused in the case. The allegations are subject to the ongoing investigation and judicial process.
