The Home Minister said teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF) had been deployed and were carrying out rescue and relief operations on a war footing.
He also announced that Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) would soon visit the affected areas to assess the damage and determine what additional assistance the states require.
Odisha Among States to Receive Central Assistance
Odisha is among the states affected by Cyclone Arnab, which crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28 before weakening.
During his conversation with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Shah assured the state government of the Centre’s support for relief, rehabilitation and recovery measures.
The state administration has been coordinating emergency response efforts and monitoring conditions in affected districts. The central government’s assurance is intended to support these efforts and help address the needs of affected residents.
NDRF and SDRF Continue Rescue Operations
Disaster response teams are working with local administrations to assist affected communities, conduct rescue operations and provide emergency support.
The immediate priorities include helping vulnerable residents, assessing damage and supporting the restoration of essential services.
The NDRF and SDRF are continuing their operations as authorities evaluate the impact of the cyclone across the affected states.
Central Teams to Assess Damage
The proposed visits by Inter-Ministerial Central Teams will help the Centre evaluate the extent of damage caused by Cyclone Arnab.
The assessment will also help determine the additional assistance required by the affected states for relief and recovery.
The Centre has reiterated its commitment to supporting state governments and helping affected communities recover from the disaster.
