IMD: Red Warning for Heatwave in Three Districts of Odisha

Published on

Bhubaneswar: Many parts of Odisha have been oppressively hot since this morning, and the soaring temperatures show no signs of declining. The state’s Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Kalahandi districts are under a red alert due to heat wave conditions, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has issued an orange alert for the districts of Sundargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Bolangir, and heat wave conditions are also being felt in some areas of these districts.

The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Mayurbhanj in Odisha. According to Akashvani’s correspondent, the scorching sun is still causing severe heat wave conditions in Odisha, with four of India’s five hottest places yesterday being in Odisha, with Boudh at the top of the list.

The major towns in Odisha recorded the highest temperatures, all above 40 degrees Celsius. According to IMD reports, Boudh had the highest temperature, with a boiling temperature of 43.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda 42 degrees, Chandrapur 41.6 degrees, and Angul 41.1 degrees Celsius.

The Odisha government is actively exploring moving to morning school hours in order to shield pupils from the severe heat wave conditions that have been in place for the previous several days.

The School and Mass Education Department has guaranteed that it is well aware of the growing heat and is closely monitoring the issue.

In the meanwhile, the IMD has recommended taking precautions against hot weather when venturing outdoors during the day’s peak hours, up until three o’clock in the afternoon.
