India Strongly Rejects China’s Renaming Move in Arunachal Pradesh

Published on

The Indian government on Wednesday strongly dismissed China’s recent attempt to rename several locations in Arunachal Pradesh, describing it as a futile and unfounded effort to assert territorial claims.

In a sharply worded response, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed that Arunachal Pradesh is an inseparable and integral part of India, calling Beijing’s move “vain and preposterous.”

“We have observed China’s continued attempts to assign names to places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. In line with our consistent and principled stand, we firmly reject such efforts,” the Ministry of External Affairs stated.

The ministry also emphasized that “inventing names cannot change the irrefutable fact that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India.”

This response came after China issued a list of newly assigned Chinese names for locations in Arunachal Pradesh, a region it claims as the southern part of Tibet.
