Defence Minister arrives in Srinagar, Operation Sindoor

Published on

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Srinagar today as part of his ongoing visit to Jammu and Kashmir. His trip comes in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, which commenced on May 7, and he is expected to assess the current situation in the region.

According to defence sources, Singh is accompanied by several high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Defence.

During his visit, the Defence Minister will also stop at the Army’s 15 Corps headquarters in Srinagar, where he will receive detailed briefings on operational readiness and the outcomes of Operation Sindoor.

He is scheduled to interact with Army personnel and will commend them for their role in the operation, which successfully targeted Pakistan-backed terrorism.

In a related development, an Indian technical delegation has arrived in New York to present crucial evidence on the Pahalgam terror attack to the Monitoring Team of the 1267 Sanctions Committee, which oversees the global designation of terrorist entities.

Meanwhile, in response to Turkey’s backing of Pakistan amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, several Indian educational institutions — including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) — have either put joint programs with Turkish universities on hold or are reviewing such collaborations, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The Defence Ministry highlighted that Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s growing military prowess and technological capability, as the armed forces executed precise strikes and dismantled terror infrastructure without breaching international borders.
