India Reaffirms Strong, Future-Ready Partnerships with BRICS Nations
At the 11th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting held in Brasilia, India reinforced its commitment to fostering long-term and future-focused partnerships with fellow BRICS member nations. Leading the Indian delegation, Minister of State for Communications, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, emphasized that India’s engagement with BRICS is not momentary but rooted in structural and strategic collaboration.
Shared Goals for a Digitally Unified Future
The meeting culminated in a joint declaration focusing on Universal and Meaningful Connectivity, Space Sustainability, Environmental Responsibility, and Comprehensive Digital Ecosystem Development. Minister Pemmasani expressed strong support for these priorities, stating:
“Our cooperation is not episodic; it is structural, strategic, and spiritually anchored in mutual respect.”
Digital Cooperation Across 11 BRICS Nations
The expanded BRICS grouping now includes 11 countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. India joined in unanimous support for advancing cooperation in key digital domains, positioning digital as a global common for all nations.
A Declaration Beyond Policy
Highlighting the deeper significance of the joint declaration, Pemmasani said the agreed-upon pillars are not just policy directions but essential foundations for a digitally unified tomorrow.
“Our commitment to exchanging knowledge and best practices reaffirms the spirit of shared progress that defines BRICS.”
India to Host 2026 BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting
It was announced that India will host the next BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting in 2026, further strengthening its leadership in global digital dialogue and collaboration.
India’s Model: Ancient Wisdom Meets Digital Innovation
Minister Pemmasani described India’s approach to digital governance as a fusion of civilizational heritage and modern technological advancement.
“Our approach is transformational, not transactional, guided by inclusion, equity, and technological empowerment for all.”
He reiterated India’s global vision with the guiding philosophy:
“One Earth, One Family, One Future” — a call to action for unifying the world’s digital ecosystems toward shared prosperity and peace.
