Odisha Official Caught with Crores in Disproportionate Assets, Lavish Farmhouse

Published on

In a sweeping anti-corruption operation, the Odisha Vigilance Department on Monday exposed massive disproportionate assets allegedly owned by Dayanidhi Bag, Joint Director of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development. Raids were carried out across eight different locations, uncovering a shocking network of properties, luxury assets, and hidden wealth.

Lavish Farmhouse and Multi-City Properties Under Scanner

Investigations revealed that Dayanidhi Bag owns a 40-acre farmhouse in Nabarangpur, estimated to be worth around ₹1 crore. Far from being modest, the property reflects large-scale financial misconduct.

Other assets traced to Bag include:

  • 11 acres of land in Bhawanipatna
  • A 3BHK flat in Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar
  • A bungalow in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar
  • An under-construction 3,000 sq ft house in Nabarangpur
  • A shopping complex with five commercial shops in Nabarangpur

Financial Irregularities and Proxy Ownerships

The raids also led to the seizure of:

  • ₹55 lakh in bank deposits
  • Large quantities of gold jewellery
  • Multiple benami vehicles registered in others’ names

Officials stated that the pattern of property investments indicates long-term, systematic abuse of public office.

Ongoing Probe and Legal Action Expected

A senior Vigilance officer remarked, “This is one of the most extensive raids in recent months. The scale of asset acquisition by Mr. Bag is staggering and raises serious questions about the misuse of power and position.”

Authorities confirmed that asset evaluation and verification are still ongoing, with more questionable holdings expected to surface. Legal proceedings are likely to follow upon completion of the investigation.
