PM Modi Reaffirms Vision of Developed India by 2047
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reiterated India’s firm resolve to become a developed nation by 2047, calling it a key topic of global discourse. Speaking at a public function in Durgapur, West Bengal, the Prime Minister said that India’s ongoing transformative infrastructure development is laying the foundation for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
The Prime Minister was in Durgapur to lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate development projects worth over ₹5,400 crore, marking a major boost for the region’s infrastructure and economic potential.
Massive Infrastructure Gains in Past Decade: Modi
PM Modi emphasized that the government’s decade-long push in social, physical, and digital infrastructure has enabled:
- Over 4 crore pucca houses
- Crores of toilets built under Swachh Bharat
- More than 12 crore tap water connections
- Thousands of kilometers of new roads and highways
- New railway lines and airports, even in small towns
- Internet access reaching villages and remote areas
He said that every development effort, whether in the factories or the fields, is aligned with a single objective — making India a developed nation by 2047.
Vision for Empowerment, Self-Reliance, and Good Governance
PM Modi also outlined his government’s development model centered around:
- Empowerment through development
- Self-reliance through employment
- Good governance through responsiveness
He urged citizens to continue contributing to the national mission, asserting that the next 25 years are crucial in achieving the country’s development goals.
Eastern India Rising: ₹7,200 Crore Projects in Bihar
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited Motihari in Bihar, where he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development initiatives worth over ₹7,200 crore. These projects are part of the government’s push to accelerate growth in eastern India, often referred to by Modi as the “engine of India’s future growth.”
Energy Security Through Connectivity: Urja Ganga Vision
Highlighting India’s strides in the energy sector, PM Modi underlined the success of LPG penetration nationwide and the plan for a unified gas network. Under the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Yojana, gas pipelines are being laid across six eastern states, including West Bengal, as part of the government’s “One Nation, One Gas Grid” initiative.
