Appointment of OBCs in direct recruitment more than 27 percent: Union Minister

Union Minister for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh on Thursday said the appointment of OBCs in direct recruitment every year from 2011 to 2021 was more than 27 per cent.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that people belonging to other backward classes (OBCs) were lagging behind in getting the benefit of 27% reservation in central services, the minister said the data was based on information. provided by various Ministries/Departments of the Central Government including their affiliated/subordinate offices.

The Minister said that filling vacancies is a continuous process. The Department of Personnel and Training has issued instructions to the Central Government Ministries/Departments to appoint an officer of the rank of Deputy Secretary and above as Liaison Officer to ensure proper compliance of orders and instructions relating to reservation and to establish a special reservation cell under the direct control of a Liaison Officer assist in the performance of duties.
