Asia’s Longest River Bridge Nears Completion Across Kosi in Bihar, To Boost Connectivity

Published on

Bihar: In a major infrastructure milestone, Asia’s longest river bridge—spanning 13.3 kilometers across the Kosi River between Madhubani and Supaul—is on the verge of completion. Once operational, the bridge will dramatically improve connectivity to Patna via National Highway 27 (NH-27), reducing travel distance by approximately 44 kilometers.

This engineering feat is set to transform the lives of people in some of the most flood-prone and underdeveloped regions of Bihar by enhancing access to the state capital and fostering regional development.

Kosi Bridge to Bridge the Gap for Flood-Affected Regions

The Asia’s longest river bridge, built over the volatile Kosi River, is a symbol of progress and resilience for Bihar. The region has long been challenged by devastating floods and poor infrastructure. By linking Madhubani and Supaul directly with Patna, the bridge will not only save travel time but also facilitate economic activity, easier healthcare access, and educational outreach.

Once completed, it will serve as a critical segment of the NH-27 corridor, boosting intra-state and inter-state logistics and movement.

Engineering Marvel to Benefit Thousands

With its 13.3 km span, the bridge sets a new benchmark in Indian road infrastructure. It will directly benefit thousands of commuters, transporters, and local residents, while also playing a strategic role in regional development and disaster management by ensuring smoother evacuation and relief during flood seasons.
