FSSAI Releases Official List of Ayurveda Aahara Foods to Boost Ayurvedic Nutrition

Published on

New Delhi: In a move to mainstream India’s ancient food wisdom, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, has issued an official list of recognized Ayurveda Aahara formulations. This initiative follows the 2022 introduction of the Food Safety and Standards (Ayurveda Aahara) Regulations and aims to offer clarity to consumers and businesses regarding authentic Ayurvedic food products.

The newly released list, published under Note (1) of Schedule B, is derived directly from traditional Ayurvedic texts cited in Schedule A of the regulations. It provides a clear reference for Food Business Operators (FBOs), enabling them to manufacture Ayurvedic food products rooted in classical knowledge.

The Ayurveda Aahara list bridges traditional knowledge and modern regulatory systems, offering manufacturers a credible foundation for product development. These food preparations, drawn from age-old texts, highlight ingredients, recipes, and preparation techniques long known to benefit health and wellness.

Minister of State (IC) for Ayush and Health, Mr. Prataprao Jadhav, urged citizens to adopt Ayurveda Aahara in their daily diet. He emphasized that Ayurvedic dietary practices enhance immunity, support digestion, and improve holistic well-being over time.

This initiative not only promotes public health through dietary awareness but also strengthens trust among industry stakeholders by setting a transparent framework. It marks a vital step in integrating Ayurveda into everyday nutrition and supporting India’s heritage through science-backed regulation.
