Axiom-4 Mission Postponed: India’s Shubhanshu Shukla to Fly Tomorrow on Historic Space Journey

The highly anticipated Axiom-4 (AX-4) space mission, featuring India’s astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, has been delayed by 24 hours due to unfavorable weather conditions. ISRO Chairman V Narayanan announced via social media that the launch is now scheduled for 5:30 PM IST tomorrow.

Multinational Crew Gears Up for Scientific Mission to ISS

This groundbreaking mission will send four astronauts from India, the US, Poland, and Hungary to the International Space Station (ISS) for a 14-day research expedition in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
The Axiom-4 crew includes:

  • Shubhanshu Shukla (India)
  • Sławosz Uznański (Poland)
  • Tibor Kapu (Hungary)
  • Peggy Whitson (USA)

60 Global Experiments to Be Conducted in Space

The astronauts will conduct over 60 scientific experiments representing 31 countries. These will cover critical areas such as human health, biology, life sciences, Earth observation, and materials science. Several of the experiments are led by India’s space agency, ISRO, marking a significant milestone for Indian space research on a global stage.

SpaceX Dragon to Launch from Kennedy Space Centre

The crew will board the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, which will be launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Pad 39 at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This mission marks the maiden voyage of the Dragon spacecraft, while the Falcon 9 booster will be flying for the second time. After completing its launch duties, the Falcon 9’s first stage is expected to land at Florida’s Landing Zone 1.

India’s Shukla Shares Message of Hope and Inspiration

In a video message released by Axiom Space, Shubhanshu Shukla expressed his gratitude for being part of this historic mission, calling it “something much bigger” than himself. The Axiom-4 mission seeks to advance both long-term space exploration goals and Earth-based scientific progress through data and discoveries made during the trip.
