Bangladesh Air Force Jet Crashes into Dhaka School, 19 Dead in Tragic Incident

A Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into a school in the capital city of Dhaka on Monday, claiming the lives of at least 19 people and injuring several others. The tragic incident occurred around 1:06 PM in the Uttara area when the aircraft fell on the premises of Milestone School and College during regular school hours.

F-7 BGI Jet on Training Mission Crashes During School Hours

The aircraft, identified as a Chinese-manufactured F-7 BGI, had taken off for a routine training flight but unexpectedly lost control and crashed near the school’s gate. According to a school spokesperson, a classroom was in session at the time of impact, intensifying the tragedy.

Emergency Response and Rescue Operations Underway

Dramatic visuals from the scene showed plumes of smoke and fire emerging from the crash site as emergency services and military personnel rushed to respond. Firefighters and rescuers from the Bangladesh Army and Air Force reached the site quickly to conduct rescue operations and evacuate the injured.

Official Statement and Ongoing Investigation

In a short statement, the Bangladesh Army’s public relations office confirmed that the aircraft belonged to the Air Force, though the cause of the crash remains unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what led to the fatal accident. It is not yet confirmed whether the pilot ejected before the crash.

The F-7 BGI is a Chinese-origin jet commonly used for training by the Bangladesh Air Force.
