BJP Launches ‘Gaon Chalo, Basti Chalo’ Campaign in Telangana

Published on

The BJP has planned to launch a people-to-people campaign in slums and villages under the slogan ‘Gaon Chalo, Basti Chalo’ for three days beginning April 10 to promote the party’s Foundation Day programs.

General secretary K. Venkateshwarlu told a press conference at the party office on Wednesday that the programme, which will be attended by top leaders, will include meeting at least 10 beneficiaries of the Centre’s welfare schemes in each area, cleaning up a health centre or temple, holding booth committee meetings, and leading a procession with party flags.

Party president and Union Minister of Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Rajya Sabha member K. Laxman, MLAs, MPs and others will take part in the programme. The leaders will also be holding local meetings to understand the issues faced by citizens and prepare the ground for launching protests against the Congress Government’s ‘anti-people’ policies, he said.

In a separate press conference, deputy floor leader Payal Shankar accused the Congress government of failing to take action against many acts of omission and commission committed during the previous BRS regime, including land scams, phone tapping, irrigation projects, the Nayeem case, and so on.

“Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy promised to pursue criminal action against the wrongs committed by the KCR regime while he was in opposition, but nothing has happened despite his being in office for more than 15 months. “Isn’t this collusion politics between both parties?” he asked.

The BJP leader demanded the ruling party to explain to the people why the “corrupt” persons are being “saved”. If BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has proof of any illegal deals, he should make it public instead of making baseless allegations during informal “chit-chats”. KTR will have to face defamation cases if he continues in the same vein, added Mr. Shankar.
