Brett Lee Responds After India vs Pakistan WCL Match Cancellation: “We Pushed for It”

Edgbaston: Following the abrupt cancellation of the high-voltage clash between India Champions and Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL), former Australian speedster and Australia Champions captain Brett Lee addressed the media, offering his views on the controversy that has stirred the tournament.

Speaking at a press conference, Brett Lee acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation but revealed that efforts were made to ensure the match went ahead.

“We pushed for it,” Lee said, referring to attempts to continue with the India vs Pakistan fixture before it was officially called off.

Lee Advocates for Unity and Focus on the Bigger Picture

Maintaining a neutral and diplomatic stance, the Aussie legend stressed his admiration for both India and Pakistan.

“I love India, I love Pakistan. I hope they can get to a discretion where they can appreciate themselves,” he said, calling for calm and understanding amid tensions.

Lee further highlighted that while the cancellation grabbed headlines, the focus must return to the broader purpose of the WCL.

“We are here on a tournament… Australia versus India versus South Africa. We are all inclusive,” he added, reaffirming his support for keeping the tournament on track.

India vs Pakistan WCL Match Cancelled Amid Player Withdrawals

The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash was cancelled on the eve of the game at Edgbaston, reportedly after several Indian players withdrew, leading to its abandonment. The decision caused disappointment among fans and confusion across the cricketing community.

Pakistan Champions, who won a last-over thriller against England in the tournament opener, will continue their campaign.

India Champions will now begin their WCL journey with a fixture against South Africa Champions, led by AB de Villiers, on Tuesday evening at Northampton’s County Ground.
