Centre Clears Names Of New Chief Justices For 5 High Courts

The Union today (July 14) confirmed the appointment of new Chief Justices of 5 High Courts.

As per the official notification, the following Judges have been elevated as the Chief Justices of various High Courts :

(1) Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Judge of the MP High Court ( parent HC : Delhi High Court), as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

(2) Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Delhi High Court Judge, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.

(3) Justice Ashutosh Kumar of Patna High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

(4) Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi of Patna High Court ( parent HC : Gujarat) is appointed as Patna High Court Chief Justice.

(5) Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, is appointed Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

This development comes after the Supreme Collegium recommended these appointments in May.

The Centre also notified the transfer of four High Court Chief Justices as the CJs of other HCs.
