In a significant development, 16 Maoists surrendered to the Chhattisgarh police and CRPF officials in Sukma district today. Among them, six were carrying a reward of ₹25 lakh each, and are believed to have been involved in several Naxal-related incidents.
Rehabilitation Under State Policy
As per the Chhattisgarh Government’s rehabilitation policy, each surrendered Maoist has been given an incentive of ₹50,000. In addition to financial assistance, they will be eligible for various other support services as part of their reintegration into mainstream society.
Step Towards Peace and Stability
The mass surrender reflects growing efforts to weaken the Naxal network and promote peace and development in the affected regions. Authorities consider this a major success in their ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
