Rajinikanth’s latest action-thriller Coolie continues its storming run at the global box office. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film has amassed an impressive ₹444 crore worldwide in just eight days, inching closer to the ₹450 crore milestone.
Coolie worldwide box office collection: Surpasses Devara and Brahmastra
According to trade reports, Coolie has already crossed the lifetime earnings of Jr. NTR’s Devara Part 1 (₹430 crore), Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra Part One (₹431 crore), Rishab Shetty’s Kantara (₹416 crore), and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram (₹414 crore).
After a thunderous opening weekend grossing over ₹400 crore in four days, the film witnessed a sharp 65% drop in domestic collections from Monday onwards, dipping to single-digit figures by Thursday. Despite the slowdown, Coolie has secured ₹230 crore net in India and $21 million (₹171 crore) from overseas markets.
Day 8 box office update and upcoming milestones
With a total global collection of ₹444 crore by the end of its first week, Coolie is now eyeing the ₹450 crore mark, expected to be achieved by Friday. The next target for Rajinikanth’s film is to overtake Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), which has a reported global tally of ₹457 crore.
Star-studded cast and story of Coolie
Alongside Rajinikanth, the film features Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan makes his Tamil debut with this film, while Pooja Hegde appears in a special cameo song.
Coolie tells the story of a former union leader seeking justice for his friend Rajasekhar’s mysterious death. His fight uncovers a fierce clash with gangster Simon and his aide Dayal. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film has drawn mixed critical responses for its storyline but has been widely praised for Rajinikanth’s unmatched screen presence, charisma, and energy.
