Earthquake in Turkey: PM Modi condoles loss of lives due to Earthquake in Turkey

New Delhi: Earthquake in Turkey : The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and damage of property due to the powerful earthquake in Turkey.

In response to a tweet by the President of Turkey, the Prime Minister said, “Anguished by the loss of lives and damage of property due to the Earthquake in Turkey. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey and is ready to offer all possible assistance to cope with this tragedy.”

Notably, The earthquake in nearly a century struck Turkey and Syria early Monday today, killing over 1200 people. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake wiped out entire area of major parts Turkish cities in a restless region filled with millions of people who have fled the civil war in Syria.

According to the head of Syria’s National Earthquake Centre, Raed Ahmed, pro-government radio that this was “the biggest earthquake recorded in the history of the centre”.

At least 326 people died in government controlled area of Syria, on the latest count information. Also 912 people died in Turkey, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed.
