East Coast Railway Special Trains 2025: 367 Services Handle Festive Rush in Odisha

East Coast Railway Special Trains: With the festive season in full swing, Indian Railways has introduced nearly 12,000 special trains nationwide to manage the surge in passenger traffic. Among them, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched 367 special trains to provide safe, smooth, and comfortable travel for passengers across Odisha and neighbouring regions. These services aim to ease congestion during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivities.

367 East Coast Railway Special Trains for Festive Travelers

ECoR General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal announced that 76 of the 367 services have already been introduced, benefiting more than 78,000 passengers so far.
“Under the guidance of the Railway Minister, over 12,000 special trains are being operated nationwide, and the East Coast Railway has added 367 to meet the festive demand,” Funkwal said.

The Northern Railway (1,919 trains), Central Railway (1,998 trains), and Western Railway (1,501 trains) are running the largest numbers of special trains. Additionally, East Central Railway and North Western Railway have each introduced 1,217 services to meet regional requirements.

Enhanced Security and Real-Time Monitoring

To ensure safe and seamless travel, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and senior officials have been deployed at major stations under the East Coast zone. More than 900 CCTV cameras have been installed across key locations to monitor crowd movement and prevent untoward incidents.

Indian Railways is also preparing to operate around 8,000 more special trains during upcoming festivals, including Chhath Puja, to accommodate increased passenger movement. These proactive steps reflect the commitment to safety and passenger convenience during the peak travel period.

Railway Minister Reviews Festive Preparedness Nationwide

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently inspected arrangements at New Delhi Railway Station, reviewing passenger facilities, ticket counters, and crowd management systems. His visit highlighted the government’s focus on ensuring hassle-free travel across all zones.

Between October 1 and 19, Indian Railways operated 3,960 special trains, transporting over one crore passengers nationwide. The East Coast Railway special trains have been pivotal in connecting key routes across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, ensuring timely and reliable services for festival-goers.

The East Coast Railway continues to play a crucial role in providing dependable rail services during high-demand seasons. Its efficient planning, additional train deployments, and safety measures underscore its commitment to serving millions of passengers during India’s busiest travel period.
