New Delhi: India BRICS Presidency 2026 formally moved into focus on Tuesday as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar attended the launch of the official logo and website for India’s upcoming chairship of the BRICS grouping. The event marked the beginning of India’s preparations to lead the bloc at a crucial moment in its evolution, as BRICS approaches two decades since its formation.

Jaishankar said India’s leadership of the grouping would focus on harnessing the collective strengths of BRICS nations to promote greater global welfare, reflecting the bloc’s expanded role in international cooperation among emerging and developing economies.

India BRICS Presidency 2026 and Global Cooperation

Speaking at the launch, Jaishankar said India will assume the BRICS chairship in 2026 at a defining phase in the grouping’s journey. He noted that BRICS will complete 20 years since its inception in 2006, during which it has steadily evolved into a major platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries.

He highlighted that over the years, BRICS has broadened both its agenda and membership in response to changing global realities. Despite this expansion, the grouping has remained committed to people-centric development, sustained dialogue and practical cooperation that delivers tangible benefits.

Humanity-First Approach Under PM Modi’s Guidance

Jaishankar emphasised that India is approaching its BRICS chairship inspired by the vision and guidance of Narendra Modi, with a strong focus on inclusive growth and global responsibility.

He said India’s chairship theme — Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability — reflects the belief that deeper cooperation among BRICS members can help address shared global challenges in a balanced and inclusive manner. According to him, this approach places people at the centre of development while encouraging innovation and long-term resilience.

India BRICS Presidency 2026 Logo and Digital Platform

Unveiling the BRICS 2026 logo, Jaishankar said the design symbolises development for all. He explained that the logo blends elements of tradition and modernity, while its petals incorporate the colours of all BRICS member countries. This, he said, represents unity in diversity and a shared sense of purpose among the members.

The External Affairs Minister added that the logo conveys how BRICS draws strength from the collective contributions of its members while respecting their distinct identities and national characteristics.

Jaishankar also said the newly launched BRICS India website would function as a central digital platform during India’s chairship. The website will provide information on meetings, initiatives and outcomes, facilitate transparency, encourage engagement and ensure timely dissemination of information related to BRICS activities.

BRICS Role Amid Global Uncertainty

Referring to the current international situation, Jaishankar said the world is facing multiple interconnected challenges. He pointed to geopolitical uncertainties, complex economic conditions, climate-related risks, rapid technological changes and persistent development gaps that continue to affect countries across regions.

In this context, he said BRICS remains a vital forum for encouraging dialogue, cooperation and practical responses, while respecting national priorities and varying stages of development. He underscored that India’s BRICS Presidency 2026 aims to strengthen the grouping’s role as a constructive and inclusive platform in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
