India Extends Ban on Pakistani Aircraft Till August 23 Amid Ongoing Security Concerns
New Delhi: The Government of India has extended the ban on Pakistani aircraft from entering Indian airspace until August 23, 2025. The development was confirmed by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, citing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued as part of ongoing strategic and security measures.

Extension Based on Security Protocols and Diplomatic Reciprocity
Minister Mohol stated that the move is consistent with prevailing security protocols and reflects India’s strategic considerations in light of the current regional situation. The decision comes in reciprocal response to Pakistan’s earlier restriction barring Indian aircraft from operating in its airspace.
Pakistan has reportedly extended its own ban on Indian airlines’ flights till August 24, 2025, highlighting continued tensions between the two neighbours.
Major IAF Exercise Along Border Zones in Rajasthan
Coinciding with the airspace restrictions, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is gearing up for a large-scale military exercise from July 23 to 25 in Rajasthan, spanning sensitive areas along the India-Pakistan border — specifically from Barmer to Jodhpur.
The NOTAM issued for this operation signals intensive aerial activity and combat preparedness drills, involving high-mobility aircraft and surveillance units.
Operation Sindoor and Rising Cross-Border Tensions
The chosen exercise zone in Rajasthan is not arbitrary — these areas were previously targeted during Pakistan’s Operation Sindoor, a coordinated cross-border campaign involving drone and missile attacks. The attacks affected multiple Indian districts, including Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar, raising serious concerns about national security and airspace integrity.
The Indian military’s response, including such exercises, is part of broader defensive and deterrence strategies.
