India will participate as the Guest of Honour country at the Bogota International Book Fair 2026, marking a significant step forward in strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Colombia.

Indian Ambassador to Colombia, Vanlalhuma, expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasised that this literary exchange will serve as a bridge for deeper bilateral connections. Since its inception in 1988, the Colombian Book Chamber and Corferias have jointly organised the Bogota International Book Fair, which has grown to become one of the most prominent cultural events in the Spanish-speaking world.

The announcement event saw the presence of several senior Colombian officials, including the Minister of Culture, the Director of FILBo, the President of Corferias, and the Executive President of the Colombian Book Chamber. Their participation highlighted the importance both nations place on cultural diplomacy.

India’s National Book Trust took part in the Bogota International Book Fair 2026 journey by showcasing a collective exhibit of Indian books for the first time during the 37th edition of the fair, held from April 25 to May 11, 2025. This successful participation set the stage for India’s elevation as Guest of Honour in the upcoming edition.
