India to Launch Single Window Clearance and Digital Music Licensing Registry for Live Events Industry

Published on

India Live Events Industry 2025: The Government of India will soon introduce a dedicated online Single Window Clearance Mechanism for the live events industry. The platform will be developed under the India Cine Hub initiative to streamline permissions and improve the ease of doing business.

This decision was taken during the first Meeting of the Joint Working Group on Promotion of the Live Events Industry in New Delhi, chaired by Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju.

Digital Music Licensing Registry by October

A key highlight of the meeting was the decision to launch a Centralised Digital Music Licensing Registry by October 2025, in collaboration with music rights societies. This registry will simplify the licensing process for event organizers and ensure greater transparency in rights management.

India’s Global Live Entertainment Vision

Speaking at the meeting, Sanjay Jaju emphasized the government’s vision to position India among the world’s top five live entertainment destinations by 2030. He said the sector has the potential to generate 15–20 million jobs, while boosting:

  • Infrastructure creation
  • Employment opportunities
  • Tourism growth
  • India’s cultural soft power

Joint Working Group for Concert Economy

The Joint Working Group (JWG) was constituted in July 2025 under the guidance of Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The JWG includes:

  • Representatives from Central and State Governments
  • Industry associations
  • Music rights societies
  • Leading event management companies

The group aims to shape India’s concert economy into a global growth driver.

Rising Growth of India’s Live Entertainment Market

India’s live entertainment sector, valued at ₹20,000 crore in 2024, is growing at an impressive 15% annually, making it one of the fastest-expanding segments of the media and entertainment industry.

With increasing demand across Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, live events are rapidly emerging as a critical pillar of India’s creative economy.
