India’s Electronics Exports Soar 47% in Q1 FY25; US, UAE, China Top Destinations

Published on

In a major boost to India’s global trade ambitions, the country’s electronics exports surged by 47% in the first quarter (April–June) of the current fiscal year, reaching $12.41 billion, according to data released by the Commerce Ministry. The growth reinforces India’s emergence as a global manufacturing hub and a reliable player in the electronics supply chain.

US, UAE, China Lead as Top Importers

The United States, United Arab Emirates, and China emerged as the top three destinations for Indian electronic goods during Q1 FY25. The US alone accounted for over 60% of total electronics exports, while the UAE and China held shares of 8.09% and 3.88% respectively. The Netherlands and Germany also featured prominently among the top destinations.

This strong geographical spread reflects India’s increasing integration into the global electronics value chain and its positioning as an alternative manufacturing base in Asia, especially amid global supply chain realignments.

Apparel Exports Also on the Rise

India’s ready-made garment exports also recorded an uptick, rising to $4.19 billion in April–June FY25, up from $3.85 billion in the same period last fiscal.

The US led again, accounting for 34.11% of garment exports, followed by the UK (8.81%), UAE (7.85%), Germany (5.51%), and Spain (5.29%).

These figures indicate India’s sustained competitiveness in the global apparel market, supported by its skilled workforce, diversified product base, and increasing focus on quality and compliance.

India’s Global Trade Momentum

The sharp rise in electronics exports is seen as a significant milestone in India’s “Make in India” mission and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and exports. Industry analysts believe that with continued government support and improved infrastructure, India could soon challenge other leading Asian manufacturing hubs.
