IPL 2025, DC vs LSG Highlights: In IPL 2025 opener at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the Delhi Capitals defeated the Lucknow Super Giants in an exciting final over thanks to Ashutosh Sharma’s tenacity, poise, and batting power when it counted most.
After completing an incredible chase, the little batter yelled in celebration, swinging his bat and making expressive gestures toward the Delhi Capitals dugout.
With an undefeated 66 off just 31 balls, Ashutosh saved his team from certain death and led them to an incredible one-wicket victory. He was the night’s hero.
Earlier, Nicholas Pooran’s scorching 75 off 30 and Mitchell Marsh’s explosive 72 off 36 balls helped the Lucknow Super Giants to a commanding total of 209/8 in 20 overs. LSG tried, but was unable to prevent Ashutosh from writing a remarkable comeback.
Despite efforts by captain Axar Patel (22 off 11) and Faf du Plessis (29 off 18) to rally, DC was still having trouble at 113/6 in the 13th over, needing 97 runs off 45 balls. With five boundaries and five tall sixes, he bravely faced the LSG bowlers, displaying the ideal mix of poise and restrained aggression. DC survived the chase thanks to his well-planned response.
With a rapid 39 off 15 balls, Vipraj Nigam offered crucial support and forged a pivotal combination with Ashutosh that gave Delhi new hope.
Ashutosh maintained composure, skillfully guiding the strike and punishing loose deliveries as 18 runs were needed from the final two overs. He was undeterred by losing Kuldeep Yadav in the penultimate over.
Then, with only a few more runs needed, Ashutosh put on a spectacular show by hitting a spectacular straight six off the third ball of the last over, giving the Delhi Capitals an unforgettable victory and solidifying his status as the evening’s hero.
