Jindal (India) Limited Secures HLCA Approval for ₹3,600 Cr Greenfield Steel Plant in Dhenkanal

Published on

Mumbai: Jindal (India) Limited, a B.C. Jindal Group company, has received the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) approval from the Odisha government for a ₹3,600 crore greenfield steel plant in Dhenkanal, marking a major milestone in its ₹15,000 crore investment plan in Odisha by 2030.

Odisha’s ambition to draw in over ₹1.5 lakh crore in investments across various industries is highlighted by this permission, which joins a number of large-scale projects previously approved by HLCA, such as Vedanta’s ₹1.28 lakh crore aluminum smelter and SRF’s ₹10,000 crore chemicals facility.

As part of this planned growth, the company’s cutting-edge plant will focus on producing unique coated steel goods. The factory will include coating facilities such as a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM) with a Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL) and a Color Coating Line (CCL) for steel sheets, as well as other high-potential downstream products with an annual capacity of 9.6 lakh MT. This phase will be operational by 2027.

In addition, JISTL plans to increase the entire capacity of the Odisha plant’s flat product division to 30 lakh MT per year by 2030.
