Jyoti Malhotra: Haryana YouTuber Among Six Arrested for Spying for Pakistan

Published on

Six Indian nationals, including a Haryana-based travel vlogger, have been arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence operatives. The suspected espionage network extended across Haryana and Punjab, with individuals acting as informants, financial couriers, and recruiters.

One of the key accused is Jyoti Malhotra, who ran the YouTube channel Travel with Jo. She reportedly visited Pakistan in 2023 using a visa arranged by agents, where she formed close ties with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a staffer at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. Danish, since expelled from India on May 13, 2025, allegedly introduced her to multiple Pakistani intelligence operatives.

Jyoti stayed in contact with them through encrypted apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat, reportedly sharing sensitive location data and promoting pro-Pakistan narratives on social media. She is also accused of developing an intimate relationship with one operative and traveling with him to Bali. Authorities have charged her under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and secured a written confession. The case is now with the Economic Offences Wing in Hisar.

Another suspect, Guzala, a 32-year-old widow from Malerkotla, Punjab, also came into contact with Danish during a visa visit to the Pakistan High Commission. Their online relationship escalated into a romantic exchange, with Danish sending her money and instructing her to distribute it to others. She later revisited the High Commission with a friend, Banu Nasreena, who was also granted a visa.

Other arrested individuals include:

  • Yameen Mohd (Malerkotla): Assisted in financial transactions and visa arrangements.
  • Devinder Singh Dhillon (Kaithal, Haryana): A Sikh student recruited during a pilgrimage to Pakistan; shared video footage of Patiala cantonment.
  • Arman (Nuh, Haryana): Provided Indian SIM cards, moved funds, and attended Defence Expo 2025 on instructions from Pakistani handlers.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the espionage ring.
