Kalbaisakhi Returns: IMD Predicts Rainfall & Thunderstorm in Odisha from April 8
An intense heat wave is currently plaguing the districts of Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted on Sunday that the maximum temperature in the districts of Odisha would increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the course of the next day, with little to no change beyond that.
Additionally, the IMD has forecast that Odisha would likely see a repeat of Kalbaisakhi-related rainfall starting on April 8, 2025. Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for a number of the state’s districts.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.04.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.04.2025):
Light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.04.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.04.2025)
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur,Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.04.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 10.04.2025)
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur.
