Bhubaneswar: Inaugurating the 3-day Krushi Odisha 2023 at Biju Patnaik Play Ground, Bermuda, Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik highlighted agricultural mechanization and crop diversification and asked farmers to adopt the latest technology for better crop production.
Organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment, this 3-day event Krushi Odisha 2023 continues until February 18. The theme of this year’s event is “Emerging Technology in Agriculture“.
Addressing the farmers who participated in the event, the Prime Minister said that technology is the key to development. There is also a huge need for technology in agriculture. The Chief Minister said that all farmers will learn about new technology, use it and achieve success in agriculture and contribute significantly to their own and country’s development.
The Chief Minister said that the development of agriculture and farmers is the most important program of my government. Odisha has become a leading state in agriculture. We have gone from a food deficit country to a grain surplus state and are supplying rice to the public distribution system across the country, he said.
CM Naveen Patnaik said that the farmers have got job security through KALIA Yojana and efforts are being made to increase crop productivity by emphasising on farm mechanization. Through missions like as Panas Mission, Chathu Mission, importance is being given to farmers’ livelihood and nutrition security. Saying that the National Mission has now attracted the attention of the entire country and the world, he said that the Mission Shakti has also helped in increasing our Group’s income.
Welcoming representatives of organizations like WFP, IFAD and FAO to participate in ‘Agriculture Odisha’, the Chief Minister thanked them for their continued cooperation in the field of agriculture.
Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subroto Bagchi and Additional Chief Administrative Secretary Anu Garg, Principal Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Dr Arvind Padhi and Director Premchand Chowdhury were present among others in Krushi Odisha 2023 expo.
