Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal to Bring Rainfall in Odisha, Says IMD

The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Center has forecasted the formation of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. This system is expected to intensify into a depression over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal and the adjoining west-central Bay within 48 hours.

Low Pressure Bay of Bengal Odisha Rain Expected Over Next Week

Under the influence of this developing weather system, Odisha is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall for the next five to seven days. According to the Met department, coastal and southern districts including Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Rayagada are expected to experience scattered rain during the next 24 hours.

Keonjhar Records 79 mm Rainfall in 24 Hours

In the last 24 hours, Keonjhar district reported the highest rainfall of 79 mm, indicating the beginning of the state’s wet spell. Other regions are also expected to receive moderate showers as the system strengthens over the Bay.

No Cyclone Warning for Odisha, Says IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has clarified that no cyclone warning has been issued for Odisha. Officials have urged residents to remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic, assuring that regular updates will be provided as the system evolves.
