Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Budget 2026-27 was presented in the Assembly with a strong welfare and development focus, as Finance Minister Jagdish Devda outlined a Rs 4.38 lakh crore roadmap aimed at inclusive growth. The budget prioritises women, farmers, marginalised communities, and youth employment while accelerating infrastructure and industrial expansion.
The financial blueprint signals continuity in social schemes alongside fresh capital spending to drive long-term economic resilience.
Madhya Pradesh Budget 2026-27 Highlights Welfare Push for Women and Farmers
The flagship Ladli Behna Yojana emerged as the centrepiece of the budget, securing a record Rs 23,882 crore allocation. The scheme continues to provide direct financial support to women, reinforcing household stability and gender empowerment.
In agriculture, the government announced subsidised solar irrigation pumps for one lakh farmers, fulfilling a key commitment of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The initiative aims to reduce electricity costs, promote renewable energy use, and improve farm productivity.
A target of Rs 25,000 crore in Kisan loans was set, along with renewed emphasis on natural farming practices.
Infrastructure and Rural Development Take Centre Stage
Rural development received Rs 40,000 crore, underlining the government’s push to strengthen village-level infrastructure. The G Ram G scheme for Gram Panchayats was allocated Rs 10,428 crore, while Rs 9,000 crore went to the PM Janman scheme for tribal and underprivileged communities.
Road connectivity remains a priority, with Rs 12,690 crore earmarked for repairs and upgrades across urban and rural areas. Housing initiatives also saw momentum, with Rs 6,850 crore allocated under the PM Awas Yojana.
Urban Growth, Energy and Simhastha Preparations MP Budget 2026-27
Urban development received over Rs 21,561 crore, including Rs 3,600 crore specifically for preparations linked to the upcoming Simhastha Mahaparva. Overall, Rs 13,851 crore was set aside for the religious event and associated projects, including the six-lane Indore–Ujjain Highway.
The energy sector was strengthened with a Rs 34,650 million provision and plans for a new 604 MW power unit to meet rising demand.
Education, Jobs and Industrial Expansion
The budget announced recruitment of 15,000 teachers and 22,500 police personnel to strengthen public services. School education initiatives include free tetra pack milk for students up to Class 8 in government schools to improve nutrition and attendance.
Industrial growth received a boost with the development of 48 industrial parks and a special package for Bundelkhand. Telecom manufacturing has commenced in Gwalior, while the state’s Space Policy is now operational.
Environment, Culture and Social Welfare Allocations
Environmental conservation was allocated Rs 6,151 crore, while religious and cultural activities received Rs 2,055 crore. Labour welfare secured Rs 1,335 crore, and Rs 793 crore was provided for Dharti Aba Yojana. The Mukhya Mantri Teerth Darshan Yojana received Rs 50 crore to support senior citizens’ pilgrimages.

Opposition Protest Briefly Disrupts Budget Speech
The budget presentation witnessed brief disruption when Congress MLAs entered the House holding placards and symbolic empty piggy banks. The protest, over the absence of enhanced legislators’ funds, caused momentary chaos before proceedings resumed.
The Madhya Pradesh Budget 2026-27 positions welfare-driven growth alongside infrastructure expansion and job creation, signalling the government’s intent to balance social equity with economic ambition.
