Bhubaneswar: The State-level children’s festival “Mahak” began on Tuesday at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, marking the start of a lively five-day celebration of creativity and talent among young participants. Organized by the Departments of Women and Child Development (WCD), Mission Shakti, and the Odisha State Child Protection Society, this grand event aims to nurture and recognize the diverse abilities of children from all corners of the state.
Over 500 Young Participants Showcase Talent at ‘Mahak’ Festival
This year’s Mahak festival has brought together more than 500 children who will participate in a variety of competitions, including solo singing, group dance, debate, painting, and quiz contests. The platform reflects Odisha’s commitment to empowering its young citizens by giving them space to express their creativity and potential.
Leaders Highlight Odisha’s Vision for a Brighter Future
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Principal Secretary of WCD Shubha Sarma, Director of ICDS Monisha Banerjee, and Additional Secretary Krutibas Rout. The dignitaries encouraged children to dream big, pursue excellence, and contribute meaningfully to society. They emphasized that every child embodies the promise of a progressive and compassionate Odisha.
Mission Vatsalya Showcased During ‘Mahak’ Festival
As part of the inaugural event, a Coffee Table Book on “Mission Vatsalya” was unveiled, documenting Odisha’s impactful journey in child protection and welfare. A special video presentation highlighted success stories of children supported under Mission Vatsalya, reinforcing the state’s commitment to ensuring a safe, nurturing, and opportunity-rich environment for every child.
