Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan has officially been declared the NDA vice presidential candidate for the upcoming national election. The announcement was made by BJP national president and Union Minister JP Nadda after a meeting of the BJP parliamentary board held at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Mr. Nadda confirmed that all NDA partners have unanimously backed Radhakrishnan’s nomination.
He also said the BJP will reach out to all political parties in an effort to hold the Vice Presidential election with broad consensus.

Over the past week, BJP leaders have contacted both NDA allies and opposition parties to build support for the decision, said Mr. Nadda. According to party sources, there is growing optimism that the election process will be smooth and largely uncontested given the outreach efforts.
The selection of CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA vice presidential candidate was finalised after a high-level meeting in Delhi attended by key leaders including:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- Home Minister Amit Shah
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
- Other members of the BJP parliamentary board
Election on 9th August After Resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar
The Vice Presidential election is scheduled for 9th August, following the recent resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post. With the nomination now confirmed, political observers expect formal consultations between national parties to begin in the coming days.
Party insiders say CP Radhakrishnan’s longstanding public service record and administrative experience as Governor of Maharashtra played a major role in his selection.
