Union Minister and North Mumbai MP Piyush Goyal today inaugurated “Mauli” – the very first All-Women Operated Clean Street Food Hub in Kandivani, near Mumbai. What makes this initiative unique is that it is entirely managed by women belonging to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) who have undergone specialised training under the Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme.
Goyal highlighted that these women are now fully equipped to run clean, safe and hygienic food businesses, thereby creating a dignified source of livelihood and strengthening local entrepreneurship.

Describing the launch as a proud moment, Piyush Goyal said the clean street food hub represents an ideal blend of food safety, women’s empowerment and community development. He expressed confidence that, just like every home trusts “aajji’s dibba”, this hub will earn the trust of every Mumbaikar.
The Union Minister also stressed the significant role of FSSAI in building safety and trust across India, noting that:
- 405 certified food hubs have been created
- 13+ lakh vendors have been trained under food safety standards
FoSTaC-Trained Women Lead the Way at New clean street food hub
Thanks to FoSTaC training, the women managing the hub are well-versed in hygiene guidelines and customer service, positioning “Mauli” as a model for future clean street food hubs all over the country.
The launch marks a major step toward inclusive development and sets a strong example of how public initiatives can uplift local communities while promoting safe and healthy food practices.
