Mann Ki Baat Highlights: PM Modi Stresses Social Security Growth, Yoga, and Pilgrimage as Unity Symbols

Published on

In the latest edition of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India is progressing with a “saturation approach” in health, social security, and welfare schemes—ensuring that benefits reach every citizen. He termed this inclusive approach as a “true image of social justice.”

Citing a recent ILO report, PM Modi noted that over 64% of India’s population is now receiving some form of social protection, a significant rise from just 25 crore beneficiaries in 2015. He said that around 95 crore Indians are now covered under various government welfare initiatives.

He attributed this success to improved governance and the commitment to empowering the common man. “Such achievements inspire confidence in a stronger and more equitable India,” the Prime Minister added.

India Declared Trachoma-Free

Modi celebrated India being declared Trachoma-free by the World Health Organization (WHO), calling it a milestone in public health. He credited the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Jal Jeevan Mission for this success, acknowledging the tireless efforts of thousands of healthcare and sanitation workers.

Reflecting on Emergency: 50 Years Later

Touching on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, PM Modi reminded the nation of the dark chapter in Indian democracy, stating that it was an assault on the Constitution and judiciary. He paid tribute to those who resisted and preserved democratic values, urging the public to stay vigilant to protect India’s constitutional ethos.

Massive Yoga Participation on International Yoga Day

The PM hailed the global participation in International Yoga Day on June 21, highlighting the performance of three lakh people in Visakhapatnam and 2,000 tribal students who completed 108 Surya Namaskars. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” was described as a reflection of the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) philosophy.

Pilgrimages as Symbols of Unity and Service

He spoke about major pilgrimages like the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, Amarnath Yatra, and Puri’s Jagannath Rath Yatra, celebrating them as powerful examples of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. He also highlighted the spirit of community service displayed during these yatras, such as setting up free food stalls, medical camps, and water stations for devotees.
