Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Warns India, Claims Islamabad Is a ‘Regional Stabiliser’

Published on

In a fresh round of provocative remarks, Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir accused India of carrying out two unprovoked attacks against Pakistan and warned of a strong retaliatory response to any future aggression. Speaking at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, Munir labelled India’s actions as a “troubling lack of strategic foresight.”

Calling Pakistan a “net regional stabiliser”, the army chief claimed that Islamabad had shown restraint despite India’s so-called provocations. “Even in the face of Indian hostility, Pakistan demonstrated maturity and a firm commitment to regional peace,” Munir stated.

He further accused New Delhi of escalating tensions at a time when, according to him, Pakistan was nearing the complete eradication of terrorism.

Munir’s remarks come amid heightened military rhetoric and growing friction between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, particularly following recent cross-border incidents and security developments in the region.

Observers note that this statement may worsen bilateral ties, already strained due to repeated diplomatic standoffs and military flare-ups over the years.
