India Rejects Pakistan’s Accusation Over Waziristan Suicide Bombing

Published on

India has strongly refuted Pakistan’s accusations that it was behind a deadly suicide car bomb attack in North Waziristan, which claimed the lives of 13 Pakistani soldiers. The attack, which occurred on June 28, was described by the Pakistani Army as an act of terrorism allegedly orchestrated with Indian support—an assertion India has flatly denied.

Responding to the claims, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said,

“We have seen an official statement by the Pakistan Army seeking to blame India for the attack on Waziristan. We reject this statement with the contempt it deserves.”

The incident involved a suicide bomber ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into a military convoy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, resulting in at least 13 soldiers killed, and injuring 10 personnel and 19 civilians, according to a local official cited anonymously by Pakistani media outlet The Dawn.

The Pakistan Army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), identified the perpetrators as members of Fitna-al-Khawarij, although no group has officially claimed responsibility yet.

This deadly assault follows a recent intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan, where two Pakistani soldiers were killed and 11 terrorists were neutralized, according to military sources.

Pakistan has experienced a notable spike in militant violence since the Taliban regained control in Afghanistan in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly accused Kabul of providing safe havens to anti-Pakistan elements—an allegation the Taliban government continues to deny.

As per AFP data, approximately 290 lives have been lost to insurgent attacks so far in 2025, primarily targeting security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
