Chennai: The release of Nayanthara and Kavin‘s upcoming Tamil romantic drama Hi has been postponed. The makers have officially announced that the film will now arrive in cinemas on August 28, 2026, instead of its previously scheduled release on August 14.
The new release date was confirmed through the official social media handles of the production houses. While the makers have not disclosed the reason behind the postponement, the revised schedule is expected to give the film a better theatrical window by avoiding a crowded Independence Day release period.
Hi New Release Date Confirmed
The makers have locked August 28, 2026, as the new worldwide theatrical release date for Hi.
The postponement is expected to help the romantic drama avoid a major box office clash and provide it with more screens and stronger audience visibility.
Cast, Crew and Certification
Directed by Vishnu Edavan, Hi features Nayanthara and Kavin in the lead roles.
The film is produced by:
- Seven Screen Studios
- Zee Studios South
- Rowdy Pictures
Music for the film has been composed by Jen Martin.
Ahead of its theatrical release, Hi has completed the certification process and received a U/A certificate, making it suitable for family audiences with parental guidance for younger viewers.
Box Office Expectations
By shifting its release from the busy Independence Day weekend, the makers are aiming to provide Hi with a stronger box office run and greater visibility among moviegoers.
Promotional activities are expected to intensify in the coming weeks as the release date approaches.
With Nayanthara and Kavin sharing screen space in a romantic entertainer, Hi is now set for its worldwide theatrical release on August 28, 2026.
