Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet has given its nod to the ambitious ‘SAMRUDHA SAHAR’ Scheme, a strategic initiative under the Vikshit Odisha 2036 Vision, aimed at fostering planned urbanisation and balanced regional development. This scheme is set to transform urban centres into powerful economic and infrastructural hubs.
₹4,114 Cr for Town Planning Scheme
The scheme includes two major components. The Town Planning Scheme, backed by an allocation of ₹4,114 crores, focuses on land reconstitution in peri-urban areas. It aims to create well-planned layouts with proper infrastructure like roads, drainage, water supply, sanitation, and solid waste management.
₹765.30 Cr for Cities as Growth Hubs
The second component, Cities as Growth Hubs, will receive ₹765.30 crores and is focused on industrial and economic development. It targets the development of economic clusters, industrial townships, and urban corridors that can drive employment, private investments, and regional industrial growth.
Boost to Infrastructure, Jobs, and Governance
With a total outlay of ₹4,879.30 crores, the ‘SAMRUDHA SAHAR’ scheme is expected to enhance urban governance, improve infrastructure, and create employment opportunities. The initiative aligns with the state’s broader vision of becoming a developed state by 2036.
